Congratulations to the Class of 2023!

Although hosted by Taylor, West Side's state tournament game on Thursday will be played at the Bradley High School ball field, 521 School St., Bradley, AR. Tickets @ GoFan.co//app/school/AR23444

Coach Davis and the baseball team will be heading out at 10:30 am Wednesday from the school to play in the Class 1A State Tournament in Taylor. They will take Highway 16 across the Narrows Bridge. We would love for the community to gather along the roadway to cheer them on!

To help prepare for ACT Aspire, Mrs. Kelli made breakfast one morning for the 5th & 6th graders during testing week. What a thoughtful teacher!

Mr. Waters and his Eagle Choir did an excellent job singing the National Anthem at the Regional Baseball/Softball tournament last week!

Mr. Caleb's 5th graders recently had a guest visit as part of their Revolutionary War unit. Former West Side teacher, Mrs. Veronica Haile, explained the historical significance of sewing and embroidery (especially during wartime) and taught the girls some basic embroidery stitches. Mr. Caleb struggled alongside the boys in what they called "Surviving Sewing School" to learn how to quickly fix a ripped seam and sew on a button.

Tomorrow morning is the AP Language and Composition exam. It will begin at 7:50 a.m. in the upstairs arena classrooms. The AP Biology exam will be given on Wednesday, May 10th beginning at noon. Doing well on these exams can lead to college credit hours. Though performance on the test will not affect semester grades, students who do not take the test will not receive weighted credit toward their GPAs.

West Side 2nd graders had a great trip to the zoo last week!

Mrs. Cherie also had several examples of student art set up for the Fine Arts Extravaganza on Sunday. It's an honor to be chosen for the art show, and it was all fabulous!

Also to Tadeo Hernandez, and Amberlea Shaw not pictured. Congrats to the winners and all of the students whose artwork was selected for the show!

Ashley Boyd was "Caught Being Kind" in many ways last week! She helped moved chairs for her teacher, escorted a younger child down a busy hallway, and taught her peers how to use a protractor! Way to go, Ashley!
