Mrs. Cherie's 3rd-6th grade art students are finishing up their Mixed Media Arkansas Wildlife Silhouettes. They paint their watercolor background, draw the animal in silhouette form, then transfer the drawing to the watercolor and fill in with Sharpie and add stenciling. What complex, yet beautiful art projects!

The September Junior High Student of the Month is Alex Parker. Alex is an 8th grader at West Side High and was selected by his teachers for this month's recognition on behalf of his character! Way to go, Alex and thanks to Subway for a free sub for our honoree!

Mrs. Cherie's Art Club is working on Block Print Collages. They are printing their focal point (like making a stamp) and then cutting out and adding magazine images for their background.




Mrs. Michelle Brewer from Baptist Health in Heber Springs recently visited our kindergarteners to share information about Stroke Awareness. She read, Grandpa's Crooked Smile and shared activity books with the students.

On Friday, September 19, West Side celebrated "Why Apply" day! Organized by career coach Shelly Haag, teachers and staff wore college apparel and shared why they applied for higher education.










6th graders tried their hand at Sumerian cuneiform. What are the benefits of a clay tablet? Easy to work with and easy to correct mistakes. Drawbacks? You wouldn't want to carry a backpack full of them! They have also enjoyed the fall weather in the outdoor classroom!
Good Job Madilyn Keller - 4H member. She won Best in Show for her pie crust, a Blue Ribbon for a hot cocoa mix, a Blue Ribbon for her poultry chain chickens, and 2nd place in Junior Rabbit Showmanship!

The Lady Eagles golf team won the district title today at Mountain Ranch with Lainee Gentry taking medalist honors with the best score of the day. She shot a 75. Macy Gentry, with a 92, was medalist runner-up. Her teammates: Kately Cornett, 94, and Lilli Southerland, 96.
The Eagle golf team won the district championship today with Mason Hart leading the team firing a 93 at Mountain Ranch Golf Course. His teammates were Lindsey Laiden, 94, Keegan Towell, 101, and Jessy Nail, 103.

CJ Parks, who won a welding national championship in June, made the Top 6 in the AWS Worldskills welding trials, instructor Randy Carr announced today. CJ and Mr. Carr will travel to Huntsville, Ala., in December for what is described as a "tune up." They return in January to compete for a Top 3 spot. "God has a plan for this youngman and I'm just glad I'm getting to be a part of it," said Mr. Carr. "All the Glory to God."
