Wednesday was a banner day for the West Side eSports teams! For the first time in program history, a West Side Smash Bros. B team was victorious. The newly-formed "Nuggie Munchers" - consisting of Tucker Polley, Mason Parks and Thomas Shue - pulled out a come-from-behind win over Greene County Tech, 3-2. Polley went 2-0 (with a 4-1 game record) and Shue gutted out the deciding win.
The Smash Bros. A Team was leading Izard County STEM 2-1 when connectivity issues at IC forced a reschedule to complete play. West Side's Tadeo Hernandez is currently one game victory away from securing the match win and will face IC STEM's Caleb Johnson when play resumes..

Crews will be refinishing the basketball courts of Brady-Hipp Arena and Gathright Gym during the fall break. No one should be on the floors Friday through Monday. Normal activities can continue Tuesday.

The Shakespeare Show, put on my Theatre Squared out of Fayetteville, covered the 10 tragedies of Shakespeare for West Side's high school today, October 7. In addition to learning literature, culture and history, several students were also invited to participate in the final scene of the show.
The West Side Beta team attended the regional fall leadership conference in Benton, AR. All students qualified for nationals in their respective categories.

Mrs. Robin's 5th Grade Science Students recently did a lab to determine if mixing two or more substances would equal a new substance.





The Junior Girls Cross Country team competed today at Lamar with about 100 runners in the field. For West Side, Faith Olive finished 37th, Madison Stevens 41st, and Everleigh Palenske 42nd.

West Side's boys golf team captured 3rd place in the State Golf Match today, ending the season at Turkey Mountain Golf Course at Horseshoe Bend. As he did in most of the regular season matches, Mason Hart (center in photo) had the low score for the Eagles with an 85. Others scoring were (from left to right) Laiden Lindsey, 90; Jessy Nail ,108; and Keegan Towell 95. The team is coached by Luke Cornett.

On Thursday October 2, the West Side yearbook class toured Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas. Students spoke to the communications department head, learned about media platforms like newspapers and podcasts that they can start back home, and were given a personalized tour by West Side Alum Zack Birmingham.


Remember that Parent-Teacher Conferences are Thursday, Oct. 9th from 3-7 pm. School dismisses at 2 pm!
