It's time to Rock the Test at West Side! Grade 3-10 students are taking the state-mandated ACT Aspire Summative tests this week (Mon-Tue for HS and Wed-Fri for Elementary). Students are ready, teachers have worked hard to prepare them, and parents play a part, too! Please make sure your child gets plenty of sleep before testing, eats a good breakfast at home or school, and misses school only if necessary. #Soaring2NewHeights

West Side Seniors recently attended a senior workshop where Juanice Carr (with Community Water System) provided students information on resumes, job applications and interviews, and employee benefits. hey also participated in the "Let's Get Real Here's the Deal" program provided by the Cleburne County Extension Office. This hands-on simulation gives students an employment card and monthly income and informs students if they have a spouse and family. They then learned how to deduct taxes and make decisions regarding the purchase of real-life items such as a vehicle, housing, childcare, utilities, etc. based on their family size and income. Students had to write checks for the services purchased and keep a balanced checkbook.
